The game from England ‘brag’ is obviously sprung from brelan and had bluffing as its integral part. However, it is most possible that all these games are poker ancestors.
But a modern concept focuses on the card play in poker, and asserts that it may have originated from many games, but the unique poker feature is betting, and from this point of view poker appeared in early 1700’s, and had extended through the whole of the Mississippi by 1800.
